WINE SPECTATOR AWARDED TENUTA SAN LEONARDO

Another recognition for the famous Avio winery.

In recent days, the ancient Tenuta San Leonardo winery has received excellent scores for its wines: Wine Spectator has awarded 90 points to Vette Sauvignon Blanc 2019 and 91 points to Riesling 2016.

Vette is the great sauvignon blanc in purity, a Trentino excellence with very ancient origins. Its personality reflects the complex minerality and the great freshness of the Trentino mountains. Sauvignon grapes. from the beautiful Roverè della Luna vineyard, surrounded by 270 hectares of woods and the beneficial effects of the Garda wind. After the harvest, the grapes are softly pressed and de-stemmed, subjected to cold maceration and then cold fermented for 12 days. After 5 months of resting on the yeasts in stainless steel and frequent batonage, the wine is filtered and bottled, to be put on the market. The Vette is a fresh and fragrant wine, it goes well with light dishes with versatility and is pleasant and intriguing as an aperitif.

Riesling is made with grapes from the vine of the same name which are grown at about 700 meters above sea level. The terroir is characterized by a purely sandy-loam matrix. The bunches are harvested manually and then taken to the wine-making rooms in the cellar to be destemmed; after which the grapes are pressed and the must obtained ferments in stainless steel containers for about 20 days. Finally, we proceed with the refinement: the wine remains for 12 months on the fine lees in French oak tonneau and then for another 6 months directly in glass. The olfactory spectrum starts with citrus and mineral notes and then turns towards sensations of tropical fruit and touches that recall flint. In the mouth it is of excellent structure, with a dynamic sip that ends with a finish of excellent persistence.
