VINI BUONI D’ITALIA 2022 AWARDS CANTINE DEL NOTAIO

Another important recognition for the well-known winery in Basilicata.

In recent days, the winery of Basilicata, Cantine del Notaio, has received an excellent award for one of its wines: Vini Buoni d’Italia 2022 has in fact awarded the Corona to Il Sigillo Aglianico del Vulture 2015.

Il Sigillo di Cantine del Notaio is the traditional soul of Aglianico del Vulture, offered in a modern guise. This wine expresses the power and character of Basilicata and the vine, in deep connection with its environment. Respect for the environment is a must for the winery: cultivation practices are adopted that look to organic farming and the scientific approach of biodynamics, with the intention of safeguarding the land and enhancing the fruit.

“Il Sigillo” is made from 100% Aglianico. The grapes are left to over-ripen, or even wither, on the vine. Once the desired degree of drying has been reached, the bunches are harvested by hand. The intention is to create an Aglianico following the style of the famous Amarone della Valpolicella, a wine of power and softness. The maceration and fermentation phase is followed by ageing in natural volcanic tuff caves, inside French oak barrels and tonneaux for a period of 24 months. A further 24 months in bottle complete the maturation.

This wine has a very bright garnet red colour and a pleasant and fascinating bouquet: wild and jammy fruit, candied citrus fruits, chocolate, a hint of pepper and much more. The taste is soft and very structured, with tannins softened by long maturation. Well balanced in its parts, it leaves a memory of itself in a liquorice finish.
