RECORD GROWTH FOR FRANCIACORTA WINES

In this first half of 2021, the sparkling wines of Franciacorta have registered record numbers.

Although the exit from the pandemic is more tiring than hoped for, the Italians want to go back to toast“.

Sparkling wines, as mentioned in previous articles, are recording really positive trends. If 2020 was the year in which there was a significant decline in sales in this category, 2021 will be the year of the recovery of sparkling wines. The wines of Franciacorta are certainly not the exception to the rule and in fact in this first half of the year wine sales have even exceeded those of 2019, marking a growth of +12%. The average price also marked an increase: it went from € 21 per bottle in 2019 to € 22.5 in 2021. “A powerful and comforting recovery, with growth of even +200% in April and May 2021 over the same months of 2020, according to the Economic Observatory of the Franciacorta Consortium“.

In 2021 Franciacorta is witnessing encouraging trends also on the export front; these, in fact, are worth about 14% of the total sold. The main destination market is Switzerland, which accounts for approximately 23% of the total exports of Franciacorta sparkling wines; followed by Japan and the United States, where encouraging numbers are being recorded.

“The results achieved are exciting. The market and the world of catering have been close and have rewarded the producers of Franciacorta, which is seen as a reference point for the consumer who wants to live an experience that represents the best made in Italy and which is synonymous with quality, culture and trend. All these factors contribute to creating a truly positive climate in Franciacorta and for all those involved in the work”.
