The prestigious Friuli winery received an excellent score.
The Tunella winery in recent days has obtained a really important recognition: James Suckling awarded 91 points to Rjgialla 2020.
Rjgialla is one of the most famous expressions of Ribolla Gialla, a typical Friuli Venezia Giulia grape variety. For over fifty years, the winery has worked these grapes with passion and predilection, seeking to enhance their energetic freshness and good aromaticity.
This wine is produced on hilly terrain, whose subsoil alternates between marl and sandstone. The Ribolla Gialla grapes are harvested by hand towards the end of September, once they have reached the right degree of ripeness. Immediately after harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. At this point the free-run must is added to a fermentation foot, selected and created from the best grapes. Fermentation begins in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16°C and lasts for about 30-40 days. During this period the must undergoes a series of batonage in order to obtain a complex, structured product with delicate aromas. Finally, in February following the harvest, it is bottled and prepared for marketing, which takes place in early spring.
Rjgialla has a straw-yellow colour with elegant greenish reflections and an elegant, fragrant bouquet, with complex notes reminiscent of white flowers and yellow-fleshed fruit, with delicate nuances of dried fruit. This is a solid white wine, also on the palate, with a graceful, fresh and savoury body. A long, pleasant finish with slightly aromatic notes that fully reflects the characteristics of this blend.
