In Apulia, this year’s exceptional weather pattern has left its mark. From May until June and July, temperatures were characterised by torrid heat and prolonged drought. This climate meant that the phytosanitary state of the plants and bunches of grapes was remarkably healthy.
Mottura harvesting operations for the native white grapes began around mid-August; for the red grapes, such as Primitivo, the harvest began in the second half of August. The Negroamaro harvest, on the other hand, began around mid-September.
The 2022 harvest, from the first estimates made, is going to be a good year, with a vineyard that is in good health and with a balanced grape load, slightly higher than in 2021, and in perfect phytosanitary condition.
