MARCHESI DI BAROLO HAS BEEN AWARDED BY JAMES SUCKLING

The prestigious Barolo winery has received an excellent score for one of its wines.

The Piedmontese winery, Marchesi di Barolo, recently received a very interesting score from the well-known wine expert James Suckling: Bric Amel Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 was awarded an impressive 91 points.

The Langhe, as a whole, has an extraordinary variety of soils and microclimates, and Nebbiolo is a very eclectic vine that this terroir draws fragrant and fruity aromas from. The result is a wine of great harmony already in its youth, with polite tannins and a broad and immediate expression of the bouquet.

The grapes, harvested exclusively by hand, arrive in the cellar intact, where they are quickly destemmed and gently crushed so as to extract only the noblest and most aromatic fractions from the skin and from the outermost part of the berry. Fermentation, at a controlled temperature, takes place in temperature-controlled tanks. Periodic soft pumping over allows the must to appropriate all the trace elements present in the skins and gently extract the colouring material. Racking takes place at the end of fermentation. The wine is then stored in steel or vitrified cement tanks to preserve its typical fresh and fragrant aromas. A slight addition of Barbera wine gives the blend complexity and freshness of flavour.

Bric Amel Langhe Nebbiolo presents a ruby red colour with captivating mauve highlights and an intense bouquet with fragrant aromas of wild berries and violets. On the palate, the softness of Nebbiolo is combined with lively freshness in a marriage that enhances the qualities of this wine.
