An iconic wine from the Friulian winery has been awarded by Falstaff.
The well-known Austrian food and wine magazine, Falstaff, recently awarded a wine from the La Tunella winery. It gave 93 points to Colmatìss Sauvignon 2018.
The Sauvignon Colmatìss di La Tunella is a white wine from the Eastern Friuli hills. What is surprising about this wine is the ability to combine different nuances that contribute to giving depth and thickness to the general profile of this white.
Colmatìss is a 100% Sauvignon, grown with the Friulian short single inverted system in vineyards included within the appellation. The bunches are harvested at the right degree of ripeness and after destemming, the grapes are pressed. The must undergoes a cold static decantation and then begins a slow fermentation in Slavonian oak barrels. The refinement then continues on the lees in wood for a total of 15 months.
This wine has a crystalline straw yellow color. On the nose there are notes of tropical fruit, touching more herbaceous sensations and references to aromatic herbs. On the palate it is medium-bodied, precise and sharp thanks to an expressive sip that highlights freshness and flavor. It closes with a good palatal persistence.
