GAMBERO ROSSO AWARDED CASCINA CHICCO

Cascina Chicco received an excellent recognition for one of its wines.

In the Gambero Rosso Vini d’Italia 2021 guide, the well-known Piedmontese winery Cascina Chicco has obtained an excellent recognition for one of its wines: Tre Bicchieri for Barolo Rocche di Castelletto.

Barolo Rocche di Castelletto is a red wine that is produced in Monforte d’Alba, an area particularly suited for the production of Nebbiolo grapes from Barolo. The nose is elegant, offering complex and satisfying hints of raspberry jam, licorice and spicy notes. On the palate it is full-bodied, powerful and harmonious, and surprises for the sweetness of the tannins that characterize the finish.

During the harvest, which is done manually by specialized personnel, particular attention is paid to the selection of the bunches by making two steps for harvesting, spaced about 6-10 days from each other. Fermentation lasts 15 days and takes place in small steel tanks with repeated pumping over for adequate extraction of the color. Maceration continues even after fermentation, for a total period of 40 – 45 days. The refinement takes place in Slavonian oak barrels of 2,000-2,500-5,000 liters and continues its refinement first in steel and then in the bottle. About 4 years after the harvest, the wine is ready to be put on the market.
