The well-known Lucanian winery recently received an excellent score for one of its wines.
The well-known Lucanian winery Cantine del Notaio has recently obtained an excellent result: Luca Maroni tasted and awarded the 2019 vintage of L’Autentica with an impressive 98 points.
L’Autentica is a raisin wine of great charm, persuasive and harmonious. It is made from two ancient aromatic grape varieties of Greek origin, which are now widespread in almost all countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea: Malvasia and Moscato. It is a wine that brings to mind the most ancient traditions and the desire to create a precious wine, capable of honouring the land’s glorious past. The particular richness of the grapes, ripened in the generous southern sun, gives an extraordinary concentration of aromas, which makes the scents and aromas of the passito pleasantly intoxicating.
The Malvasia and Moscato grapes are grown on different plots in the Vùlture area, at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level. The soils are volcanic and insist on a substratum composed of tuffaceous rocks, capable of retaining humidity and allowing the vines to overcome even long periods of drought without suffering. Thanks to a dry and ventilated climate, the grapes are left to dry on the vine until the end of September and after the harvest, on special racks, so as to dehydrate and concentrate the sugars and aromatic components. Fermentation takes place directly in new barriques and the wine matures for 12 months, again in barriques, before finishing with at least another 12 months in the bottle.
This wine has a golden yellow colour with luminous amber reflections and an ample and rich bouquet, with notes of candied citrus peel, almond, dried fruit, orange jam, dried apricot, acacia honey and floral nuances. On the palate, it is soft and smooth, with dense and complex aromas, long and harmonious, extending towards a very persistent finish, enlivened by a good freshness.
