A GREAT SCORE FOR BASILISCO

The renowned Basilicata winery has been awarded by Wine Enthusiast.

The prestigious Wine Enthusiast magazine gave an excellent score to a wine from the Basilisco winery: 90 points to Teodosio Aglianico del Vulture 2020.

This is a wine capable of synthesising the varietal, fruity and delicately spiced characteristics with the tertiary notes of light wood ageing. A full-bodied Aglianico, which carries in the glass the typical aromas of the grape and the distinctive notes of the volcanic territory, rich in minerals. The name Teodosio was chosen as a tribute to the history and tradition of the area, since it refers to the Byzantine emperor.

The grapes come from the Barile area and are trained by the Guyot method on soils of tufaceous-clay composition. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with maceration on the skins for a period of 15 to 30 days. After racking, part of the Aglianico rests for about 12 months in second and third passage French oak barriques. Ageing is completed with 12 months in bottle in Barile’s historic caves, dug into the tuffaceous rock.

Teodosio Aglianico del Vulture presents a ruby red colour with youthful violet hues. The bouquet is intense and fruity with hints of small dark berries, plums and elegant spicy notes. On the palate it has a good structure, fine tannic texture and lively freshness.
