The well-known Tuscany winery Terenzi was included in Doctor Wine’s Guida essenziale ai vini d’Italia 2021: the wine Purosangue Morellino di Scansano Riserva 2017 scored 93 points.
The Purosangue Morellino di Scansano Riserva di Terenzi is a pure Sangiovese produced in Maremma, in a still wild and uncontaminated context. This wine was born in Montedonico di Scansano, a place characterized by soils rich in skeleton, coarse sands and clays; the rows are managed with spurred cordon. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, which are fermented in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature, with a maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine rests in large barrels for 12 months and ends its refinement with at least 6 months in the bottle.
The Purosangue di Terenzi has a ruby red color with garnet hues and a bouquet with aromas of ripe cherries, small red fruits, licorice and delicate spices. On the palate it is balanced with a very ripe fruit, a subtle tannic texture and a finish of pleasant freshness and good aromatic persistence. This is a sunny and harmonious wine that has great aging potential.
