The well-known Campania winery Montevetrano was included in Doctor Wine’s Guida essenziale ai vini d’Italia 2021: the wine of the same name, 2018 vintage, scored 96 points.
Montevetrano is a deep and elegant wine that speaks, in a modern way, of its land in the world. The estate is few miles away from Salerno, in the village of San Cipriano Picentino. The soil is of medium texture, loamy.
Montevetrano is an IGT Colli di Salerno red wine, blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Aglianico and Merlot. It is deep ruby red, intense and concentrated. On the nose, it shows berries, violet, blackberry, sour and black cherry. Spiciness recalls liquorice mirth, cinnamon, chocolate, mint, tobacco, according to the years and the aging process. The interaction of tannins, acidity and wood makes the wine gorgeously elegant, as any young wine with a potential of aging can do, turning elegance in a sensual concentration. It is a very distinctive wine, that can age for ten or more years in bottle.
